Four animals were used for counting in both stages of the estrous cycle; per animal, an average of 385 ± 31 NR2B-immunoreactive neurons was considered in the AVPV, 681 ± 29 in the MEPO, 422 ± 15 in the MPO, and 416 ± 21 in the MPN.
